Do I have to sign up to accept Beardstown Bucks?

I’m still confused. Exactly how do the Beardstown Bucks work?
Beardstown Bucks are actual legal checks drawn on a dedicated account at First National Bank. Because the checks are paid for in advance, the funds are guaranteed. You simply deposit the checks in to your regular bank account. They will clear like normal checks.
Will the certificates have an expiration date?
Yes, this 2nd round of Beardstown Bucks will expire on April 1, 2012. As a merchant, you should not except payment with an expired date and you will have 15 days after the expiration date to redeem them at your local bank.
Where can Beardstown Bucks be purchased?
Beardstown Bucks are available for sale at West Central Bank in Beardstown, First National Bank in Beardstown, Beardstown Savings and Loan, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Are the certificates redeemable for cash?
No. Only merchants can redeem the bucks in their regular checking accounts. You may, however, offer change. The bucks clearly state that they are NOT REDEEMABLE FOR CASH.
What’s this thing about offering special discounts to Beardstown Bucks customers?
As these bucks circulate, it is to your advantage to recruit their redemption in your place of business. It not only encourages shopping locally, but also shopping locally IN YOUR BUSINESS!
Can I purchase these for my employees as gifts?
Absolutely. There is no additional charge to purchase Beardstown Bucks. They are sold at face value in $5 denominations.
